Hyperlite Pod Uses
Hey everyone,
I would love to hear about how you use your Hyperlite Pods! I just ordered a Small Pod and I was surprised when it can hold my Ultamid, my Half Insert for the Ultamid, and my stakes!
I am so happy with the Small Pod and am excited to use it on the trail! I would love to hear more about how you use yours!

Aren't they just the best?! I nest my whole cook setup in my pot, and then put that in a large Pod with all my food, Lord Megaspoon, and my Cnoc water bladders I use to filter at camp. Another Large is my clothes, ditty, and some electronics. My 'Mid and quilt are in their Stuff Sacks, and I fold my deflated NeoAir in eighths. On-the-Go stuff is where I can easily access it without having to open my pack much if at all. Super streamlined!

I have the Camera Pod which quite obviously is made to hold my camera but I happened to figure out this week that it also holds my DJI AIR 2s drone and controller. This was an incredible realization because any drone case was minimum 10 oz+ so to have a lightweight and trustworthy weatherproof case to store my drone backpacking was perfect!
I have the large pod and now I'm wondering if the small pod size is big enough to store DJI's new Mini 3 Pro that just launched and is sure to be hugely popular based on the weight and camera specs.

@danofosho that’s such a great idea to use the Camera pod for a drone carrier!!! @_jamielambert_ now you don’t have to lug around that drone case!!! 😉

I’m using a small pod for dry layers and electronics on the CDT right now and I’m shocked at how much I can stuff in there. I can fit my Arc’teryx Atom jacket, Smartwool fleece leggings, Senchi mid layer, extra pair of socks, extra underwear, beanie and my battery pack with the outlet block and various cords. Extremely impressed.

What size UltaMid do you have that fits in the pod?

@quiggleryan , more than a year later, I am seeing this for the first time. I am also interested in @akmike 's question of what size UM you are using, and also in how you're folding it to fit so nicely in the pod. Please share tips if you are able!

@quiggleryan Also very interested to hear about the ultamid you are using and does your half insert have a floor? I would love to have a pod to fit my UM 2 with the full insert but unsure on the size.
Thanks!

A few months ago I decided to get the Large and Small pods for my Junction 3400. I feel like I am emerging out of my 100% minimalism days and shifting more towards organization, efficiency and sprinklings of comfort for the sake of complete enjoyment on trail. The pods really altered my perception on the usage of stuff sacks because they actually fit the shape of the backpack instead of carrying around what feels like a sack of potatoes.
I use the Small to fit my Katabatic Flex 22 quilt which is a bit of a squeeze but does a great job at utilizing space, which I appreciated on my recent Wind River High Route attempt with 8 days of food.
I use the Large to fit all of my clothes, here in BC this typically includes a 3L rain jacket, puffy, rain pants, 250 weight merino base layers and a few other things like a spare change of underwear and socks. It doesn't entirely fill the Pod but i find it compresses down and is very nice to just pull all of my clothes out at once.
Lastly, since using the pods I no longer need to use a pack liner for a huge majority of my hikes. Unless I will be doing substantial river crossings having a DCF pack with DCF pods really works well to keep water away from everything in my pack.

@AustinHager Hey, Bud! Those Pods, simple as they might be, sure make a difference! Love 'em! Thanks for the post!
