My Backpacking Sleep System

I've tried out a lot of sleeping bags and pads over the years and have my favorites now depending on conditions. For every trip, I always use a down bag, but this year I am excited to try out a down quilt for the first time. Any quilt lovers out there? Do you have tips for a first time quilt user?

Here are my favorite sleep systems by type of trip/location:

1-3 nights of summer backpacking - Marmot Hydrogen 30, but may replace with Thermarest Vesper Quilt 20, Thermarest NeoAir Uberlight pad, Hyperlite stuff sack pillow with a down jacket inside.

Overnight alpine climb - Marmot 0 degree down bag, Thermarest NeoAir Xtherm pad, Hyperlite stuff sack pillow.

Multi day climbing trip - Thermarest Vesper Quilt 20, Thermarest NeoAir Xtherm pad, Hyperlite stuff sack pillow.

1 night couples backpacking trip - Big Agnes King Solomon 15 degree double wide bag, two NeoAir Xtherm pads, two Hyperlite stuff sack pillows.

Hey I'm a quilt user! I highly recommend the sierra madre puffle quilt! I've used mine with my neo xlite pad all across the alps and it's been great! It also poppers up into a sleeping bag, has drawstrings to keep cold air out and you can popper multiple quilts together 😄
